Slum residents protest over doctor’s strike

Slum resident’s protests, want doctor’s strike to end Health Cabinet Secretary Cleopa Mailu says the government is doing everything to make sure that the crisis affecting patients and the health sector gets a solution as soon as possible.

Speaking after receiving a petition from protesters who marched from freedom corner to the health ministry offices in Nairobi this morning, Mailu has also called on doctors who are on strike to go back to work as the government and their officials continue with negotiations to end the strike.

Residents from slum areas in Nairobi including Mathare, Korogocho and Kibera have called on the Cabinet Secretary to resolve the doctors’ strike saying they have suffered a great deal.

On Thursday, the court of appeal gave more time to parties in the negotiation table on resolving the doctor’s strike.
